Subject: Harmful effects of plastic bags

Dear Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to express my deep concern about the ill-effects of plastic bags due to their non-biodegradable nature.

Plastic bags have huge demand among the civilians because they are cheap, lighter in weight and have exceptional durability. But polythene bags are harmful to the environment because they are non-biodegradable and it takes years for them to decompose. In addition, toxic substances are released into the soil when plastic bags perish under the sunlight. On burning, they cause ambient air pollution. They choke our drainage system. Water bodies have become dangerously polluted with them. Plastic is detrimental to human health as it causes respiratory and skin diseases. It is harmful to both marine animals and wildlife.

Everyone should stop using plastic bags. We must use alternatives like paper and jute bags. Despite ban on the use of plastic bags, these bags have flooded the market.

So, I earnestly request you to publish this article so that this issue is highlighted to all.

Thanking You

Yours truly

Subject: Need for road safety rules

Dear Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to raise the issue of the need for road safety rules.

Road safety rules are made to ensure safety of commuters on the roads. But sadly, most people are either not aware of quite a number of rules or do not follow the rules from the heart. Violating traffic rules not only endangers the life of wrongdoers, but also of other innocent road users. Wrong overtaking, jumping signals and over speeding have become common.

The need of the hour is that people should be made aware of and encouraged to abide by traffic rules like to wear helmets, put on seat belts and stay within the speed limits. The people should follow these rules by heart, not with fear.

I, therefore, request you to kindly publish this article in your esteemed newspaper so that this issue is highlighted to all.

Thanking you

Yours truly
