    Utkal Diwas, also known as Odisha Day or Utkala Dibasa, is celebrated on April 1 in Odisha to mark the state's formation April 1, 1936,the first State in India to be formed on a linguistic basis (during British Era).

  • The 19th annual meeting of the secretaries of the security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2 to 3 April 2024. The Indian delegation was led by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
  • NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, has completed its 75 years of establishment in 2024.It was founded in 4 April 11949 with the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty, more popularly known as the Washington Treaty. It has 32 member countries, Finland and Sweden became the 31st and 32nd members respectively. The original members of NATO were Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
  • Recently, the International Energy Agency (IEA) launched the Clean Energy Transitions Programme (CETP) annual report 2023.It is the flagship programme launched by IEA in 2017 aims to drive global clean energy transformation through expertise, analysis, technical support, and capacity building in developing countries.
  • Saudi Arabia, known for its poor women's rights record, faces criticism as it chairs the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
    Outrage was sparked by the appointment of Saudi Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil.

  • Microsoft and OpenAI have revealed plans to construct an unprecedented artificial intelligence supercomputer known as “Stargate.”

Hockey India Awards 2023
Hardik Singh and Salima Tete were named the Players of the Year for 2023 in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, at the sixth annual Hockey India Awards. Hardik Singh received the Balbir Singh Sr. Trophy.

  • REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC, has been bestowed with the SKOCH ESG Award 2024 in the ‘Renewable Energy Financing’ category.
  • Dr. Kommuri honored with Distinguished Overseas Dental Specialist title at National Fame Awards 2024. The chief guest of the ceremony was Dia Mirza.
