Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends,

A very good morning to all of you. Today, I feel honored to speak on a very special occasion — Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated on 26th July every year.

This day commemorates India’s remarkable victory in the Kargil War of 1999, fought between India and Pakistan in the Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir. Enemy forces had illegally occupied high-altitude Indian positions along the Line of Control. In response, the Indian Army launched Operation Vijay to reclaim the territory.

The operation was extremely difficult, involving high mountains, severe cold, and limited oxygen. Despite these harsh conditions, our soldiers displayed unmatched bravery and determination. After weeks of intense combat, India successfully regained control over the occupied areas. India officially declared victory on 26th July 1999, and since then, this date has been observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Many of our brave soldiers laid down their lives in this war. Their sacrifice reminds us that the peace we enjoy today has been earned through great courage and loss. Kargil Vijay Diwas is not only a symbol of military success but also a reminder of our duty to honour and respect the armed forces who defend our nation selflessly.

Let us remember their sacrifices with pride and gratitude.

Thank you. Jai Hind.

Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear fellow students,

Good morning to all of you.

Today, I feel proud and honoured to speak on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, which is observed across India on 26th July every year. This day marks a significant chapter in our country’s history, as it celebrates India's victory in the Kargil War of 1999.

The Kargil War was fought between India and Pakistan in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir, along the Line of Control. In the early months of 1999, enemy forces crossed the Indian border and captured strategic mountain positions at high altitudes. These intrusions were a direct attack on India’s sovereignty.

In response, the Indian Army launched Operation Vijay, a carefully planned military campaign to push back the intruders and reclaim the occupied land. The mission was extremely challenging. Our soldiers had to climb steep mountains under continuous enemy fire. They fought bravely in severe cold, low oxygen, and rough terrain. Their determination and courage led to India successfully regaining control over all the affected areas.

India officially declared victory on 26th July 1999, and since then, this date has been observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas to honour the bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers.

The victory in the Kargil War did not come without sacrifice. Many brave soldiers laid down their lives, and several others were wounded in the line of duty. Their unwavering courage and sacrifice remind us that the peace and freedom we enjoy today are protected by the tireless dedication of our armed forces.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is more than a celebration of military success. It is a solemn occasion to honour the spirit of patriotism, national unity, and selfless service. It encourages all of us especially the younger generation to stay committed to the nation’s safety, growth, and integrity.
