Subject: Problem of child labour

Sir,

Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities and common masses towards the worst social evil-child labour.

Child labour is banned in India but it is unfortunate that this practice is still prevalent in our society. Children can be seen working in farms, factories, hotels, homes, etc. to satisfy their hunger. They are also engaged in hazardous and dangerous employment and are often vulnerable to mental and physical illness. Poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, inadequate education and deep social prejudices are the root causes of this problem.

In order to curb this problem, government must implement laws effectively. Families and communities must be encouraged to fight against this evil. It is important to provide more work opportunities to adults and make education easily accessible.

I, therefore, request you to kindly publish this article in your esteemed daily so that the seriousness of this issue is highlighted to all.

Subject: Increasing air pollution – a concern

Dear Sir,

Through the column of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the kind attention of the concerned authorities and common masses towards the problem of air pollution in our city.

Air pollution is one of the most serious environmental threat at present. It is increasing day by day. It is caused by several human activities such as burning of fossil fuels, firewood and solid waste, dust particles released from construction work and exhaust from factories. Air pollution leads to suffocation, breathing problem, lung disease and irritation in eyes.

To check air pollution, we should use public transport. Polluting factories should be shifted to far-flung areas of the city. Shifting towards non-polluting sources of energy, planting more trees and using energy efficient appliances are some of the other measures to curb air pollution.

Kindly publish my views in your newspaper.

Yours truly
